The Sweet and Seasoned Words of Jesus

As I was reading, Colossians 4:2-6 really stopped me in my tracks. Again, Paul is reminding his friends how important prayer is! He says, “Devote yourselves to prayer” (v. 2). Being honest with you, this last month I was going through the motions of being a Christian with no follow through. I wasn’t devoting time to pray or time to be with Jesus. I felt hopeless and there are many reasons behind that hopeless feeling. I wasn’t allowing God’s strength to pull me out of my helplessness. Instead of hearing gracious words and believing in the truths I know, I was allowing myself to hear lies. Throughout my life I have heard many harsh words, so when I am approached with sweet & seasoned words, I often don’t believe the truth in them. I’m working on retraining my brain to hear & be mindful of the sweet words I’m greeted with, instead of the lies Satan wants me to hear. It’s been such a sweet thing this week just reaching out to God, by myself but also with my roommate and best friend. There have just been some moments in talking about God or praying to him when I have so easily felt His presence, He surrounded me with goose bumps. I’m choosing to devote time to be with Jesus by myself, but also with those I’m surrounded by. I want my words to be sweet & seasoned so that others may know and experience the love of Jesus!
