Ephesians 3
Invite Him In
Jesus died so that we could change and the great news is, God wants to change us!
I’m realizing it comes down to letting Him change me. I appreciated the reminder in Pauls’s letter to the Ephesians. “My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in” (Ephesians 3:14). Paul simply prayed first and asked for God to do the changing. We don’t have to “try harder,” but rather just let Him in. What a sweet, sweet gift. Come on in Jesus.
The fact is, I really need God to help me change my heart toward loving God. And if I need His help to love the most perfect being, I definitely need extra help to love all of the difficult and sinful people around me. I’m thankful the Holy Spirit moves in our lives in the most mysterious way for my human heart to have genuine love for God. It’s beautiful that praying for more love can result in love which then draws us to pray more, resulting in more love. And as Paul stated, it’s not me in my own strength, willing myself to make the change and be strengthen but a “glorious inner strength” from Christ’s dwelling in us that will do all the molding of our hearts. So come on in Jesus, you are welcome here.
